This type of motorcycle racing is a crossover between the motocross and the road-racing. In supermoto motorcycle racing, the motorcycles feature road-racing tyres, which are mostly used in motocross motorcycle racing.

The race track in the supermoto motorcycle racing is a mixture of road and dirt courses, which vary in proportion and are either placed on closed circuits or are placed on temporary venues, which are mostly urban locations.

The other part of the supermoto motorcycle racing is that the riding style in this type of motorcycle race is mostly on the tarmac section but is different from the other types of motorcycle racing. It has some of the different line in corners where there is sliding of the back wheel around the corner. The bikers use their legs straight out to the corner, which is different from the other types where the bikers bend their knees to the tarmac.

The true road racing was quite common in the earlier days but these days, not many trueroad racing takes places due to the lack of track.
